Making the Sensible Visible

Making the Sensible Visible

Ricardo Scioville is a Venezuelan visual artist who has dedicated himself to illustration. His works commonly feature a male character resembling the artist himself, very fine lines outlining human forms, and a palette of soft colors.

Scioville was born in El Tigre, Anzoátegui state, in the eastern part of the country. However, he pursued his university education in Mérida, on the other side of the country, and currently resides in Colombia. He has had the opportunity to participate in the illustration exhibition IMAGENPALABRA, which focuses on one of the most hybrid expressions, illustration art.

Scioville has also created an autobiographical character to depict everyday and humorous situations. These series are commonly seen on his social media, which he often signs as "Chovi," a phonetic emphasis in correctly pronouncing his last name.

This Venezuelan artist has expressed his art by illustrating several books, aiming to give a face to certain ideas and to make the sensitive aspects visible.
